A suspension strut is a shock absorber that also carries the coil spring and locates the wheel. It replaces a conventional damper where the vehicle’s front (and sometimes rear) suspension is built around the strut itself, so the part has to be both a damper and a structural component.
ZEIK struts use selected materials for the seat that bears the spring, and integrate the mounting bracket into the body of the strut in line with the suspension fixing requirement. This structure concentrates the damping force on the path of vertical movement of the coil spring, which is where the damper works most effectively.
The piston is multi-layer electroplated, cracked and hardened chrome, for longer service life and consistent performance. The piston rod is hardened and chrome-plated, and the all-weather fluid contains modifiers that reduce friction and keep the rod reaction smooth. Struts and strut cartridges are charged with nitrogen gas for road control and drivability.
